The Opportunity

We are seeking a Media and Communications Officer to join our school community.

The Position 

  • Title: Media and Communications Officer
  • Classification: Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022
  • FTE: 0.6 FTE (This role is part time working Monday to Wednesday, in a job share arrangement)  
  • Employment Status: Ongoing
  • Location: Wangaratta
  • Other Requirements: WWCC, National Police Check

You are a proactive and creative communications professional with a strong eye for storytelling and detail. With experience in media, photography and digital communications, you enjoy capturing and sharing the life of a busy school community through engaging photo, video and written content.

You bring a strategic yet hands‑on approach to your work, balancing forward planning with the flexibility to respond to events, deadlines and emerging opportunities. A collaborative and supportive team member, you work closely with staff, leaders and students to achieve shared communication goals, while also demonstrating the initiative to work independently when required.

You take pride in producing high‑quality content that reflects the values and ethos of Catholic education and strengthens community connection. Your professionalism, reliability and team‑focused mindset make you a valued contributor to the Galen Catholic College community.

Magnify Sandhurst

In 2025, a diocesan first, a comprehensive and exciting new learning and teaching program was simultaneously launched across over 50 Catholic schools in the Sandhurst Diocese. Magnify Sandhurst will be introduced across 2025 to 2027, with each phase designed to bring measurable improvements in each learning environment. 

Magnify Sandhurst is set to transform learning for students with more specific and explicit teaching practices, bringing greater consistency and a more predictable and effective education experience for all students.  The Magnify Sandhurst program combines evidence-based practices in teaching and learning to support each student's unique needs, strengths, and goals, focusing on
strengthening core areas like literacy and numeracy, building supportive classroom environments, and integrating Catholic values in daily learning.
