Shape learning across an entire Catholic education system
Catholic Education Sandhurst (CESL) is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking educational leader to become our Assistant Director – Learning and Teaching.
This is an influential system leadership role with the opportunity to shape curriculum, teaching, assessment and inclusive education across our schools. Working closely with the Deputy Director – Mission and Educational Development and the Executive Director, you will lead evidence-informed improvement that strengthens teacher and leader capability and delivers outstanding growth for every learner, every day.
The opportunity
At the heart of this role is the leadership and continuous improvement of Magnify Sandhurst and the CESL Instructional Model. You will bring together mission, evidence, research, data and educational expertise to create a coherent approach to learning and teaching across the system.
You will:
Provide strategic leadership for high-quality curriculum, pedagogy and learner growth across CESL schools.
Lead the continued development, implementation and evaluation of Magnify Sandhurst and associated improvement frameworks.
Strengthen curriculum, assessment and evidence-informed teaching across all learning areas.
Lead system-wide approaches to inclusive education, including effective Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.

About you
You are an experienced educational leader who can translate an ambitious vision into practical and sustainable system improvement. You bring strategic insight, educational credibility and the ability to engage others in meaningful change.
You will demonstrate:
Extensive leadership experience across education, curriculum development and teaching.
A strong record of leading complex initiatives and multiple strategic projects.
Deep knowledge of curriculum, assessment, pedagogy and evidence-informed improvement.
The ability to critically analyse data, research and evidence and translate findings into practical action.
Highly developed communication, facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to build trusted relationships and influence change across a complex, multi-school environment.
Inclusive leadership that builds engaged, capable and cohesive teams.
A deep commitment to Catholic education and the formation and flourishing of students, staff and communities.
An advanced degree in Education or a related field, current VIT registration and a Victorian driver licence are essential. Familiarity with multi-school system research and the implementation of knowledge-rich, science of learning-informed curriculum will be highly regarded.

Position details
Employment status: Five year contract
Time fraction: 1.0 FTE
Location: Bendigo, Tatura or Wangaratta
Reports to: Deputy Director – Mission and Educational Development
Remuneration: $235,000
The position requires the majority of duties to be undertaken at a CESL workplace, with flexibility and remote work supported where operationally appropriate.
