At a time of transformation, CESL is seeking a Head of Marketing and Communications to shape and lead our newly standalone Marketing and Communications team, reporting to the Executive Director.

The Position:

  • Title: Head of Marketing and Communications 
  • Remuneration: per CESL Senior Remuneration Framework 
  • FTE / Hours per fortnight: 1 FTE / 76 hours per fortnight
  • Employment Status: Ongoing  
  • Location: Bendigo  
  • Other Requirements: Employee WWCC and National Police Check or VIT, Drivers License
  • Potential start date: March 2026
  • Reports to: The Executive Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst  

About the CESL Office

The CESL Office Team comprises of close to 150 employees working across 7 key functional areas, supporting over 50 schools and early childhood centres within the Sandhurst Diocese. We are a supportive and friendly team who are committed to working collaboratively with our schools to achieve the best outcomes possible for our students. With office locations in Bendigo, Wangaratta and Tatura.

A New Role in a Growing Team 

To strengthen enrolments, elevate our brand, and bring life strategies already underway, CESL is establishing a new, standalone Marketing & Communications team within the Office of the Executive Director - led by a Head of Marketing and Communications. This role will oversee and expand the function, working with existing specialists and new roles that support school websites and centralised enrolment processes.  

The Opportunity 

As Head of Marketing and Communications, you will lead the portfolios of Marketing, Public Relations and Communications. You’ll partner directly with the Leadership Team to deliver operational excellence aligned to CESL’s strategic direction and values—driving both short‑term initiatives and long‑term impact across the system. 

You will: 

  • Develop and implement a consolidated marketing strategy aligned with organisational goals, target markets, and KPIs.  
  • Build and protect the CESL brand, refining positioning and ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all channels.  
  • Lead digital marketing (SEO, SEM, social, email, paid), optimising campaigns for reach, engagement and conversion.  
  • Elevate communications, including stakeholder engagement and crisis communications protocols.  
  • Embed analytics, monitoring KPIs, ROI and parent lifetime value; translate insights into continuous improvement.  
  • Grow and mentor a high‑performing team and foster cross‑functional collaboration across CESL.  

About You 

You’re a values‑aligned senior leader who brings: 

  • Significant experience (10+ years) in senior marketing roles with proven leadership.  
  • Deep expertise in digital marketing, brand strategy and data‑driven decision‑making.  
  • Demonstrated success managing budgets, timelines, resources and change/transformation.  
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.  
  • A collaborative, adaptable leadership style grounded in sound judgement and timely decision‑making.
