As part of our ongoing growth and following recent internal promotions, CESL is excited to welcome a motivated Payroll Advisor to join our expanding Bendigo Payroll Team. This fixed-term, part-time role offers a unique opportunity to influence payroll operations, provide expert guidance, and support continuous improvement across a diverse and dynamic school network.

The Position

  • Title: Payroll Advisor
  • Classification: CEO Administration Level 5 (CEMEA 2022)
  • Salary per year: $80,119.20
  • FTE / Hours per fortnight: 0.8 FTE / 60.8 hours per fortnight
  • Employment Status: Fixed Term (until October 2026)
  • Location: Bendigo
  • Other Requirements: WWCC, National Police Check

About the Role

As a Payroll Advisor, you’ll be a vital part of our payroll function, delivering expert advice, training and operational support. You’ll work closely with our Payroll Manager and team to:

  • Provide day-to-day payroll guidance and support
  • Deliver engaging training, workshops, and professional development sessions
  • Interpret and communicate payroll-related legislative and industrial instrument changes
  • Assist with payroll processing, including employment contract and pay calculations
  • Support payroll improvement initiatives and governance framework implementation
  • Contribute to ongoing payroll risk management and continuous improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive team player with strong technical payroll knowledge and a knack for translating complex legislation into clear, practical guidance. You’ll also bring:

  • Solid experience in payroll processing across a range of employment types
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant Australian legislation and awards/enterprise agreements
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to educate and influence
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a passion for accuracy and compliance
  • Experience developing tools, processes or educational materials for payroll or HR teams
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach to your work

The CESL Office Team comprises of close to 150 employees working across 7 key functional areas, supporting over 50 schools and early childhood centres within the Sandhurst Diocese. We are a supportive and friendly team who are committed to working collaboratively with our schools to achieve the best outcomes possible for our students. With office locations in Bendigo, Wangaratta and Tatura.
