Catholic Education Sandhurst Limited (CESL) is seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to join our dynamic People and Culture team. Position Summary
As an Employee Relations Advisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing specialist technical support for Tier 2 employee and industrial relations matters. You’ll deliver high-quality advice and case management on complex and technical issues, support enterprise bargaining and industrial relations activities, and manage escalated cases across both employee and industrial relations domains. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on interpreting legislation, supporting union engagement, and driving fair, risk-mitigated outcomes while building strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Classification: CEO Administration, Level 5 (Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022)
  • FTE / Hours: 1.0 FTE (0.8 negotiable)
  • Employment Status: Fixed-Term (6 months)
  • Location: Bendigo, Wangaratta, or Tatura
  • Potential Start Date: Late January/Early February 2026

The CESL Office Team comprises of close to 150 employees working across 7 key functional areas, supporting over 50 schools and early childhood centres within the Sandhurst Diocese. We are a supportive and friendly team who are committed to working collaboratively with our schools to achieve the best outcomes possible for our students. With office locations in Bendigo, Wangaratta and Tatura.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering specialist ER/IR case management in complex/unionised environments
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment and industrial relations frameworks
  • Proven capability in enterprise bargaining support, union engagement, and managing industrial disputes/claims
  • Advanced case management skills, including investigation, evidence assessment, and defensible decision-making
  • Excellent customer service, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical capability (data gathering, metrics design, dashboards), with experience producing executive-level reports
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability communicate complex matters with clarity and brevity;
  • A high level of discretion, judgement, and resilience in sensitive, high-risk matters
